2008 Season Results July 2008 After spending much of the early summer traveling to tracks such as MRP in South Bend and New Castle near Indianapolis, the Dyer Racing team entered the WKA ManCup National event at Norway. Forty of the top HPV Junior Sportsman Drivers came to Sheridan, IL from as far as Texas, Florida, Canada and New Jersey to take a shot at the title. Cody qualified a respectable 16th out of the 40 entries and with some extra help from the Birel Factory Support Team and from legendary engine builder Marc Zartarian from High Rev Engineering (who flew in from Carlsbad, California for the event), he set his sights on moving up to the front. The prefinal saw Cody passing 5 drivers and making it just out of the top 10. In the final, Cody made a daring inside pass in the first turn and made it past some early contact up front. He came through the first lap in 8th position and quickly marched up to 5th spot. He held that spot until a late pass by a factory driver knock him out of a top 5 finish. With a open weekend, Dyer racing decided to head over to MRP in South Bend, Indiana for a club race. This was our first time at the track. Little did we know that the local Fox TV station would be on hand to tape the Yamaha Jr. Sportsman Races. Cody qualified 6th and worked his way up to third in the final before contact while passing the second place kart ended his chance at the victory. Hunter ran in the same class and got some valuable seat time.
Cody's daring 3 wide pass down the front straight in the feature made the highlight video. Check out the link below. Fox 28 News (South Bend, Indiana) Kart Racing Report 2007 Season Review The Dyer Racing Team has made a lot of progress in their first full season of outdoor racing. Cody entered 12 races at Norway as a rookie in 2007. Cody has 3 wins in those 12 finals and 8 feature podiums. Cody has 18 pre-final podiums out of 23. Cody finished 2nd in points despite missing 3 points races.
Hunter has progressed from Rookie Class to Jr. Sportsman and has led a race this season before being taken out on the last lap (not by his brother).
Cody now owns the Yam Jr. Sportsman track record at Norway. Cody ran a 52.899 on 9/22/07 with his AR28X beating his old record of 53.008 on 7/21/07 using MG SLE Tires. The old record was 53.25 with MG Yellows. Cody also ran his personal best of 52.758 in a prefinal on 9/29/07 with his AR28X. Cody also owns the record for having his engine teched 3 different times during the season to check for illegal parts. His Adkins Yamaha engines have passed each time with flying colors. Hats off to Adkins Speed Center for fast, reliable, legal engines they provided to Dyer Racing in 2007 and 2008.
Route 66 Touring Event at Norway 7/28/07 Cody & Hunter entered the Route 66 Event at Norway. At open practice, Cody got some test time in on new Bridgestone YHC, which he hasn't run with his Birels. On Saturday, Hunter ran his personal best time in practice clocking a 53.9 run, while Cody made some laps near his track record time from the previous week. In the prefinal, Cody dropped in behind the #2 Qualifier at the start of the race. On the first lap, Cody passes the leader and pulls away from the field to win by over 2 seconds. Hunter gets tangled up in a first turn accident that happended in front of him and finished 21st. In the final, Cody again lets the #2 Qualifier set the pace and after getting his tires up to temp, passes the leader 3 laps into the event and pulls away again for a big win.
